Vac-Ex Ltd is looking for a high performing and enthusiastic Design Engineer. Working within a small knowledgeable passionate team on multiple R&D projects to continually improve and develop existing and new products. We are looking for a detail orientated individual who enjoys the challenge of design to manufacture specification.

The role will involve:
- Design of new and innovative products. This will often require problem solving and the design of custom solutions allowing various devices to be integrated into a standard range of products.
- Specifying designs for manufacture and preparing data packs to ensure successful production including QA, production and assembly, and QC standards.
- Supporting sales with technical support to ensure that the solutions offered are feasible.
- Extending the range of existing products to accommodate an ever-changing landscape of new products coming onto the market.
- Maintenance of existing 3D and 2D data within a change control process.
- Assistance in creating and updating technical publications (workshop manuals and operator manuals).
Essential:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an engineering role
- Experienced user of Solidworks CAD (3D modelling and 2D drawings)
- Experience using Solidworks PDM Pro
- Experience of design for sheet metal and fabricated product
- Specification of design for manufacture
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to work as part of a team in a busy environment.
- Confident liaising with suppliers and customers
- Open and flexible approach, and ability to work under pressure.
Preferred:
· Solidworks Composer
· Prototyping and working with development models.
· General workshop skill knowledge
· Mechanical Knowledge
· Familiar with agile working practices
Qualifications
- HNC or Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering / Product Design
- Experience and track record considered valuable alongside a recognised engineering qualification.
- Engineering apprentice trained engineers are welcome.
